On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, Create Events was lucky enough to coordinate the San Diego Style Weddings Magazine Launch Party! The event was held at the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado on their Windor Lawn (could there be a more perfect venue to inspire beach weddings?) and was attended by over 600 vendors from the San Diego area. Never before have I been in a single area with more people who all share a love for weddings!

The event’s title was “Soiree by the Sea” with a coral and teal color scheme put together beautifully. From the gorgeous linens to the massive magazine stand to the photo booth to the white day beds, the decor was magnificent! One of the central features provided by the hotel was a massive almost life-size turret almost identical to the very famous Hotel Del turret. Even better was that this decorative turret also doubled as a cupcake display!

This event was not lacking in the food department. Besides the thousands of cupcakes, there was also sushi, ice cream, naan tacos, even blue spaghetti! Obviously with a view of the ocean, seafood was essential, but I felt the featured caterers did a phenomenal job of mixing it up.
The guests in attendance were a lively bunch and this event had entertainment to match. There was alternating live music and a DJ that played music that was fun but not overpowering (this was a networking mixer after all). The live acoustic guitar player was awesome and I definitely busted a move to a remixed version of a Justin Bieber song courtesy of the DJ. They also had a photo booth with props (a big hit illustrated by the constant and endless line awaiting a photo booth session) and even a caricature artist who was such a hit they stayed far past the 8:30pm cut off time completing drawings for eager guests.

From an intern perspective such as my own I can say this was an amazing experience. I worked the registration table at the start of the evening and was able to put a face to the name of every successful and well known vendor in San Diego. Photographers, caterers, invitation designers, wedding planners, and even hotel representatives all encompassed the different people I had the opportunity to meet. I’ve learned with hospitality that it is a small world and a lot of success depends on your network. Being able to meet so many people can only broaden my network. And thank goodness people in the hospitality industry are outgoing, fun, and exciting! What a drag would it be if my network was absolutely essential to my success, but they were all boring duds who never wanted to go out? At least my network likes to party for fun (if last night was any example!). The night was far from all work though: I definitely got to mingle and soak up the event. The Create team indulged in the delicious food and even got a quick photo session in! I’m so thankful for getting the chance to work such an awesome and successful event. A special thank you to Dena Nolen-Malase from San Diego Style Weddings for letting us be a part of this event.

And take a sneak peak at this gorgeous magazine as it was the reason for such a fabulous party! If interested in getting you’re own issue, view the online copy or subscribe to the magazine at http://www.sandiegostyleweddings.com/current_magazine.asp
